Dear All
First of all I wanted to wish all my US friends a very happy Independence Day. Last year today we were packing our bags and getting ready to go there and today we are looking at the pictures of new PELI participants -arriving there, walking on the same tracks and believe me it seems today like a sweet dream that we had all seen together. I hope and wish that this year’s participants may also have a lovely time.

Almost all nations of the world have a day which they cherish a lot. The independence days are usually one of those golden events. 4th of July is such a day in American history. Through mass media we have been reading, listening and watching a lot about this day and the festivity and jubilation of the day in USA. This was really a tremendous achievement for us to witness that day with our own eyes while staying in the USA.
The day in Plymouth State University started with the bells of the church and it was really a fine sunny day befitting to the importance of the day. We were told that the Blake Allan has managed a full day program for us to enjoy the festivity of the day. We were supposed to leave early morning to visit, maple syrup farm, Franconia Heritage Museum, a life time awaited independence parade and finally to the river side . We were much interested in historical museum and the parade but Maple syrup farm run by Fadden’s family was a good thing to watch. We got over the history of the museum by observing every minute detail. The parade was a scene worth watching that we would cherish for long. Groups of young and old walking in the parade were wonderful to watch. It demonstrated the historical flow of the US history. We congratulate the inhabitants of this great country on their independence day. Long live US Pak friendship.

Freedom is the right of every nation and every human being. But it is not so easy as it looks, because it demands a continuous efforts and series of sacrifices .The celebration of the day of independence has the spirit , to recall and appreciate those sacrifices of the great people of that nation.USA has the honor of a great history of sacrifices . So I appreciate such people and say
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
to the American nation. It was in fact the memorable and life time experience for me to watch the ceremony of independence day of USA .The ceremony was really wonderful to watch , which reflected the glorious history. I congratulate all the nation .Long live PAK-USA friendship.

‘Independence Day’, is indeed a great day for every nation to celebrate. Luckily this year we, a group of twenty educators from Pakistan, who are attending a month long summer institute and Plymouth State University-New Hampshire, had a chance to witness Independence Day celebrations of the United States of America, on July 4, 2008.
The university had planned our trip to Woodstock and Lincoln, two small towns in New Hampshire, where we visited various places such as Fadden’s Sugar House, Historical Museum and St. Joseph church. The main event of the day was impressive Independence Day Parade in which young and old joyously participated; waiving their flags, singing songs and distributing sweets. Overall it was an enjoyable learning experience.
Reflecting on the day’s events, I realized that despite having diversity in cultures and the different ways of celebrations, there is one common thing amongst all of us, and that is our love for our country. Back home on our Independence Day we raise flags, illuminate our buildings, streets and sing national songs.
It is however important, that in our hour of joy we must not forget the sacrifices of all those people who made it possible for us to live in a free and independent state. In order to acknowledge their efforts and sacrifices, we must act as responsible citizens and work selflessly for the prosperity and progress of our nation
