Happy 4th of July!

July 6th, 2008 by SammanEhsan · 5 Comments

Hi people! I would like to share a 4th of July that i spent with my American and Pakistani friends. The parade followed by graciously huge scoops of icecream (!) and then the fireworks. I enjoyed sitting in the sun with families at Lincoln watching the parade go by. My favourite were the cute little kids on scooters! Isn’t it all about peaceful coexistence? Whether its individuals or nations. As the world shrinks all the more need to respect each others space and cultures. I think this training is a great way to learn about the American culture first hand. Peace!

4th July, 2008. Hi, Happy Independence Day AMERICA. It’s the first Independent Day for PELI participants too. No classroom learning but direct interaction with culture of USA. All the experiences were as sweet and pure as MAPLE syrup. And whole Friday was as diversified as the leaves OF MAPLE tree .I enjoyed the whole day and it becomes the memorable day of my life. I never have been the experience of sitting on the road side. I Collected candies, balloons, vouchers but distributed among the group except one balloon. I took pictures of every moment I spent over there.
Lisa’s hospitality was appreciated by all. Visiting museum was great. I realized in the museum that may be someday my children will save my belongings in this way as well. After the parade was over discounted two scoops of ice-cream flavored the life again. And we all started the new expedition towards the river side again. I jumped into water with Lisa, Kim, and Bich. The splashes of water fully charged the child inside me. Sooooo I am veryyyyy happyyyyy
I just want to share some verses with all here,
    My arrival in your college
    An excuse to seek knowledge
Of LOVE grateful for all time
    Ringing, jingling in all rime
    I hope you wouldn’t mind
    My favour sweet to find
    A romance all to remind
    When we promise to unite
With all the pleasures of site
    All in arms and arms

    “HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY”

    Hello Dears!

Independence Day is an event of happiness for every citizen. We are from Pakistan. We have come to USA under the PELI Program. We were very much happy and curious to know the culture & traditional events of America. In the first week of our stay over here, on 4th of July 2008, we were taken to Lincoln for attending the celebration of 4th July which really made us surprised. It was the long parade in which the old people participated with the same enthusiasm as the young ones did. It was so exciting & energetic not only for us even for all the participants of PELI 2008. The road of Lincoln Town will always remain in our minds as a sweetest memory for that gorgeous parade.
We started the day of 4th July with our morning walk on the beautiful tracks of Plymouth State University, N.H. Then we went to Lincoln’s Sugar Factory, whose owner is Mr. Jim Fadden along with Sarah & Sean. It was remember able experience of our life to observe the processing of maple syrup. Then we went to the Franconia Heritage Museum established in 1985. There we saw the ancient pieces of history kept in that museum by the collection/gifts of old community members. The method of cultural preservation was very simple but effective for the tourists & history lovers like us. We ended our day on the River with great fun.
4th July 2008 became a sweetest memory of our lives
We want to say thanks to the United State of America & the organizer of PELI Ms.Blake Allen for arranging such unforgettable visits for us.

May peace be with all of Us

With a lots of Best Wishes

Razia Mughal & Imtiaz Nizami (ITA,Pakistan)

    Looking back!

    July 4, 2008

It was for the first time in my life, I have attended Independence Day of another country. Though I did not contrive but constantly I was comparing the proceedings with those of Pakistan.

The day started with our tour to Fradden’s Syrup House followed by a poolside pizza lunch at Innseason Resort at Lincoln. It was very bright and sunny and I was secretly wishing for rain. But…

The visit to Museum and St. Joseph Catholic Church made me feel really nostalgic and I was wondering how many men and women have lived here before. I could even imagine women wearing long gowns. Families standing at the railway station and waiting for the train which comes chugging down the winding track through the deep forest.

Sitting along the road and watching the parade was really once in a life time experience. I was expecting army men marching to a martial tune. But it was a procession of people and professionals celebrating their national day. The participants of the parade threw sweets at the children among the audience as a goodwill gesture. (I wish I could visit Linwood School.) Ice cream at Ginger’s was a grand finale.

I’m grateful to Blake, Sean, Sarah, Bich, Kim and her friends and family for making that day memorable for me.
    Long live PSU team!

    Hello, hey!
The 4th July Independence Day of USA is the unforgettable day in my lifetime and all the participants of
Peli. The celebrations were in Lincon where a huge rush of kids as well as their parents were waiting . We were also sitting, when the parade started all people stands ,there was a variety of soldier equipments and cars . The most interesting thing is that the persons throw candies, pencils and other mini gifts for children and all children along with me rushes on them. We were waving hands to them and they give return response. Different music and musical instruments were also seen and listen. It was really a fully fledged cultural and colorful celebration. The small kids rode on strange and beautiful vehicles. I can say that in short time it plays a great role in the reflection of American people. I really enjoyed it.
We also visited Maple syrup factory it was also a great and new experience for us. Then to Franconia Heritage Museum an old cultural historical place. I have really enjoyed that day. Thankful to Miss Blake Allen, Kim, Sarah Sean for arranging such wonderful programmes for us.
