Dateline: Lahore - Brief overview of the pre-departure orientation session

June 27th, 2007 by John Martin · No Comments

 Hello everyone -

As a FYI I am enclosing the relevant documents/information related with the day long pre-departure orientation session held on Monday, 25th June , 2007. The venue was Ambassador Hotel, Lahore.

It was a well attended session. Due to the uncertain visa situation we thought it was best to invite the finalist and the alternates with the pending visa status, in case some of them are lucky to get their clearance on time to travel with the group. Well, they were obviously a lot of disappointed faces but we made sure they understand that visa issuance is always an unpredictable element of the program due to the complexities of clearance procedure. The status of pending visas is still the same. 12 visas have been endorsed , 8 finalists and 4 alternates. I am hoping if we could get another 3 or 4 from the final lot by the 1st or 2nd latest, these people still have a chance to leave with the group .

ITA is extremely grateful to the U.S consulate team in Lahore for extending their support for media coverage. Our special thanks to Mr Haider Hassan and Ms. Kathleen Eagen for their cooperation.

Our special thanks to Mr. Bryan Hunt, Dr. Munawar Mirza, V.C of University of Education, Lahore, Mr Hafiz Iqbal, Director of Institute of Education and Research, Punjab University and reps from the Dept. of Education and Directorate of Staff Development for their presence and participation in the event.

Best regards,

Beena Raza,

ITA
