Situation!
Success or failure is subject to situation. To get married or not depends on situation. To marry the girl you like is again situation. It means situations make the difference and in the world of English language tecahing situations play vital role. Teacher has to create situation to make students learn English and students have to respond to the particular situation to get the teacher complete his/her job. It’s indeed a good situation that being a common Pakistani I’m at Plymouth State University to learn modern ways partaining to Research and Evaluation. And again situation demands that we have to understand American English to know what our hosts are saying to us. But if a situation occurs when an American native becomes student of a teacher whose first language is not English…! Well, what could be the possible answers of the teacher to the student when he needs the treacher to give him the correct English of different situations… They are given below with the request that laughetr is not allowed in the class:
Student: How to stop some body from back biting?
Teacher: Don’t dare talk in front of my back.
Student: How to ask two to get out of the class?
Teacher: Both of you three get out of the class.
Student:Direction regarding lenght of the wire!
Teacher: Take 5 cm wire of any length.
Student: How to stand in circle?
Teacher: All of you stand in a straight circle.
Student: Making the students know the presence of the Principal!
Teacher: Be quiet! the Principal has just passed away.
Student: If students pay attention to animals outside the class!
Teacher: Why are you looking at the monkey outside the window when I am here?
Class is over. Students now learn this lesson by heart to converse in good English…!
